Greetings, mortals!
Given the popularity of the book meme that we did last year, (if you missed it, then go look under “Reviews”) we will be doing another one THIS year!
But it will be slightly different.
So as not to inundate the email boxes of our dear and faithful followers with FOUR posts per day, we will be doing one topic per week. All of us spread out on different days.
And to keep this within sound temporal boundaries, we shall be doing this for only ten weeks. Yes, this is only ten Memes. But as four of us will be doing this, and actually have some time to think about our answers and possibly edit our posts, this means a total of 40 thoughtful and well-developed articles of interest for you.
Dear reader, we do all of this for you.
The inspiration for many of these come a lovely site that does a “Tuesday Top Ten” book meme, here, with a few small modifications.
These categories have all been especially designed to make us think of the why and wherefore behind each choice. At least, we shall have to set our own paradigms and definitions and arguments for each choice. Also, many of the designations of “favorite” were changed to “best” to give us a more objective and firm position, and allow more space for discussing. (For instance, we could have a favorite story that we actually do think is very good. Or the many books that I can recognize as VERY good, but I dislike anyway. And we would also have to defend and argue for the WHY of each answer.)
And some reason, somehow, many of these seem to have a rather romantic bent to them. Hmm . . . Ah well. Next year we can try for an angsty angle.
So without further ado, behold the
2012 Book Meme!
Week 1: Book Crush(es)
Week 2: Books I’d give a theme song to
Week 3: Best villain
Week 4: Best love story
Week 5: Characters and literary figures I’d name my children after
Week 6: The author by whom you own the most books
Week 7: Favorite words and phrases, or lines and literary allusions that would win your heart.
Week 8: Best Story Settings
Week 9: Book(s) that you would bring on your honeymoon. (ie; so intrinsic to your life that it MUST be shared with your life partner as soon as possible. Or just fun to read together.)
Week 10: Books that I would bring if the world was going to be destroyed by aliens/cylons and we had to restart civilization as we know it. (ie: the basis of human knowledge and thought and civilization.)
Oo… would you mind if I abduct your format? I usually don’t like memes, but this looks to be an exception.
Oh, yes, do join us, do!
Please, please join us! It is more fun with more people doing it. Last David did it with us . . . maybe he will again? (aHEM! David?) But this way we get to have more conversations and ideas bouncing around!
Then I shall! Thank you!
